Alas, I must blog again, thanks to Ann Somerville: More about doxxing, or, That was quick!

At RequiresHate/Winterfox/Benjanun Sriduangkaew Linkspam, Somerville said, "James, Will doxxed me. He’s doxxed and harassed other women. You’re a man, you’ll never be his target."

Will someone please tell me when I doxxed her? And who I am supposed to have doxxed besides Coffeeandink, a white woman who had been "cyberstalking" me and who was using her legal name in public posts on her LJ at the time? (Full story on Coffeeandink: The Retroactive Pseudonymity of Micole “Mely” Coffeeandink.)

If you think you can dox someone who was sharing her legal name on her public blog, fine, I'm a doxxer. But I beg you, who else have I doxxed, and when did I do it? If I dox people in my sleep, I would like to know it in order to make sure it never happens again.

And while we're on the subject, has anyone addressed the old claims that Somerville doxed [redacted]? Did Somerville ever call out any of her friends for doxxing and terrorizing Zathlazip, or did she take part in that? If you think Coffeeandink was pseudonymous, you ought to agree that people who actually tried to hide their legal identities were pseudonymous also.

ETA: More context: Some personal thoughts on the whole RequiresHate exposé and discussion.

For the record, I love social justice. Dorothy Day's one of my heroes. I was quoting Hélder Câmara back before I became a socialist. I just don't like the people who have appropriated the name of social justice to rage online and do nothing to oppose the growing gap between the rich and the rest of us. See my favorite Malcolm X quote in the sidebar.

ETA 2: In the comments, Doug Lain thinks she might be referring to my sharing the story of her doxxing someone. I hadn't thought I was doxxing her; I thought that had become common knowledge. But since the story can be found elsewhere, I'll delete it from my site. I tend to think doxxers deserve to be doxxed, and that anyone who's abusive loses the privilege of pseudonymity, but I don't know that Somerville used any of her pseuds to harass anyone I know, so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and delete the details.

And if we're guessing wrong and she's thinking of something else, please let me know, and I'll make the necessary changes.
